Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). As a child she was enrolled in the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma decided to be an actor by the age of six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing as well as dancing, and also acting. By the time she turned 10, Emma had taken part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via her Oxford teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions Emma as well as Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. It was the year's top grossing film, breaking records during the opening day and the very first weekend. Reviewers were awed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British paper, praised her for her exceptional performance. Emma received the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in the feature Film. Emma was recognized five times in recognition of her role in the movie.
